The world's 1st UN-recognised Local2030 Hub joins over 5,000 businesses globally in the B Corp™ community.
Liverpool, September 13, 2022: 2030hub is announcing its certification as a B Corporation (or B Corp), joining a rapidly growing group of companies reinventing business by pursuing purpose as well as profit, that also includes Patagonia, Ben & Jerry's, Danone, The Guardian and most recently Unilever.
What is B Corp Certification?
The B Corp certification process addresses the entirety of a business’ operations and covers five key impact areas of Governance, Workers, Community, Environment and Customers. The certification process is rigorous, with applicants required to reach a benchmark score of over 80 while providing evidence of socially and environmentally responsible practices relating to energy supplies, waste and water use, worker compensation, diversity and corporate transparency. To complete the certification, each company is required to legally embed this commitment to purpose beyond profit in formal company articles.
"I watched closely as B Corp emerged in the US over 15 years ago and we are immensely proud to have been championing this global movement in Liverpool for over 5 years as 2030hub. As a purpose-driven organisation, gaining B Corp certification was essential. This accreditation comes as a validation of our values and commitment to driving change and demonstrating the power of profit as a force for good. 2030hub will also be shortly announcing our upgraded plans for 2023 to make Liverpool City Region the leading B Corp community of innovation and excellence." said 2030hub's David Connor.
2030hub Director Stephen Sykes adds: "This accreditation has been a challenging but hugely beneficial journey, especially during Covid times, and we would like to offer our praise and congratulate all other recent certifications who had those extra pressures to contend with! This certification is just the next step in our B Corp journey to champion a local movement across the North West and beyond."
2030hub has been offering paid and pro bono support and many, many sessions to introduce B Corp since launching in 2017, helping create a pipeline of over 30+ local businesses now exploring their own certification.
Chris Turner, Executive Director of B Lab UK, says “Being able to welcome 2030hub to the B Corp community is hugely exciting. Their commitment to doing business differently will be an inspiration to others and really help spread the idea that we can redefine success in business to be as much about people and planet as it is about profit”.
There are currently nearly 1000 B Corps in the UK and 5,575 worldwide. With two in-house experienced B Leaders, supporting a rapidly growing local community of companies on the certification journey. Existing local certified businesses include Hitch Marketing, Circa5000, Social Value UK, Real Worth, Form, Fuel10k, Used Kitchen Exchange, Hello Earth, Matchstick Creative, Fifty Eight, and more big names coming soon!
2030hub is the world's first United Nations-recognised Local2030 Hub, and is a place-based approach to championing and accelerating sustainability using the UN Sustainable Development Goals & B Corp as key tools.
