Climate change is a social problem.

2030hub announces the launch of Climate Impact Week this June (2nd to 8th) to include an innovative series of interconnecting events exploring climate and nature as key themes across regional and local social issues, economy, consumers and future generations.

Climate Impact Week is a platform to accelerate local to global climate and nature-based innovation, debate challenges, adaptation strategies, support advocacy and facilitate collaboration - today, and for everybody’s tomorrow.

Climate Impact Week is a natural evolution of activities previously hosted as part of our Global Goals Week campaigns in September each year, but increasingly demanded a focsued attention given the urgency of climate and nature related challenges.

Global Goals need local actions

We will use the 2030 Agenda and the Sustainable Development Goals as a guiding framework to ensure an accelerated fair transition by interconnecting climate issues to social solutions.

Co-founder of the 2030hub, Stephen Sykes insisted the week-long event will be a very positive take on all the opportunities for multi-sector companies and organisations to get involved.

“The messaging that many of us see about climate change is often based around catastrophising. On the contrary, Climate Impact Week will require composed, coordinated conversations about climate and nature that will effectively engage the private sector.

“The event focuses on the actions needed nationally and locally to mitigate the worst impacts of global climate change. Climate Impact Week in Liverpool provides the much needed accessible platform and focal point for in excess of 80,000 businesses in the Liverpool City Region. Many businesses struggle with the complexity of climate and nature across their value chains, especially in such uncertain economic times and need a community for support more than ever.”

Stephen added: “Whilst Climate Impact Week is business-oriented, we feel that the region has huge potential to be more interconnected. We’re especially keen to provide the strongest platform for young people too given the future challenges created by climate change and biodiversity loss.

“The science and data are clear, regardless of opinion. We particularly need to ensure that businesses stay competitive, resilient and fulfilling as the whole of society navigates a fair transition to a low-carbon economy. But, we can’t have a thriving economy without a thriving society, and we can’t have a thriving society without a thriving ecosphere.”

CIW will also encourage inspiring local to global collaborative climate and nature-based action using Liverpool City Region's unique blend of international prestige, cultural dynamism, thought-leadership and passionate civic engagement to create vibrant and impactful activity for today and everybody’s tomorrow.
