In the world of impact-led business, a certificate on the wall is often seen as a badge of honor. But for us, this particular cycle feels less like an award and more like a testament to survival, resilience, and an unbreakable commitment to the values we founded this organisation on a decade ago.
Beyond the “Survival Year”
Let’s be honest: 2025 was a year that tested the very foundations of the worldwide purpose-led business community. Between a volatile global economy and a national landscape that felt like an uphill battle every single day, many organisations—including ours—faced an existential crossroads.
At 2030hub, we didn't just watch the storm; we weathered it. There were moments where "survival" was the only metric that seemed to matter. However, it is during these precise moments of pressure that true leadership is defined. It is easy to be "purpose-led" when the sun is shining. It is infinitely more important to remain cemented to those values when your back is against the wall. We are still here, and we are more committed than ever.
A Decade of Pioneering the Movement
This recertification is a continuation of a story that started long before B Corp was a household name in the UK.
Our Founder, David Connor, has been a passionate advocate for the B Corp movement since 2006, watching its emergence in the US. When 2030hub was designed ten years ago as a place-based sustainability acceleration model for the Liverpool City Region, B Corp was fused into the DNA of our design alongside the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).
'We know B Corp certification isn't right for every business, but the performance (impact + profitability) improvements gained by going through the assessment absolutely are. We believe every company should aspire to the ethos of B Corp - that costs nothing - the certification can come later. This is the most holistic and robust proof of who and what you are as a business that there is. Every other badge sits underneath.' says David.
