Global Goals demand local actions.
Imagine 100+ cities working together for Global Goals Week 2025. Let's get together!
Only two cities in the world formally embrace and use Global Goals Week (GGW) as a focal point for the SDGs at a local level - New York (as home to UN HQ) and Liverpool, although there does need to be a shout-out to County Mayo in Ireland who were spotted on the place-based radar this year too!
We have been a UN GGW partner for five years and seen the impact that GGW Liverpool creates as a city-level campaign of events, debate, content, advocacy, launches and real-world connection, that energises awareness and action. It's time to multiply that impact.
As part of our commitment to the Local2030 Coalition 2030hub is calling for all regions, cities, towns and villages to use GGW 2025 to connect and collaborate, accelerating towards #OurCommonFuture.
There are another 10,000+ cities in the world, so there's room for improvement... and connectivity. By 2030 over 60% of the world's population is expected to be located around those cities. Imagine what we will do together!
'Awareness and understanding are the biggest barriers to SDG engagement, and city campaigns are the answer', says 2030hub's David Connor. 'Cities and towns are big enough to be both meaningful and manageable as campaigns that can generate an energetic, relevant and embraced ownership narrative based on the needs of its communities, but also speaking to a larger audience as a global citizen.'
If you are, or know of a city or place that would like to join a GGW community supporting each other each year let us know!
