Liverpool Sustainable Tourism & Hospitality Working Group

November 8, 2018 @ 3:30 pm - 5:30 pm

Liverpool is one of the most visited cities in the UK and home to the only United Nations Local2030 Hub. Right now, we have a fantastic opportunity to capitalise on our global UN network, by alligning behind the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals to become a leader in sustainable tourism and hospitality.

This Sustainable Tourism and Hospitality Working Group will operate as a focal point and a support network for all industry stakeholders within the Liverpool City Region. It will be a vehicle for collaboration, discussion and the sharing of best practice.

Whether you are leading the industry or just beginning to explore sustainability, if your organisation operates within tourism and hospitality in the Liverpool City Region, you are invited to join us for this exploratory meeting.

Liverpool and the Sustainable Development Goals

‘The Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), otherwise known as the Global Goals, are a universal call to action to end poverty, protect the planet and ensure that all people enjoy peace and prosperity.’
– United Nations Development Programme

193 countries have signed up to the SDGs but real progress towards these ambitious goals must begin with individuals, coming together to take action within their communities. 2030hub is the only UN Local2030 Hub in the UK. Ours is a hub that connects and supports individuals and organisations operating within the Liverpool City Region. We have gone a long way to determining how the SDGs can be impelemented locally to best effect. Working groups such as this one, facilitated by 2030Hub, will empower local leaders to further that work, specific to their sector.

As a city, we are pioneers of what can be achieved. Members of our network are already making a huge impact locally and globally. They are also reaping the business benefits of aligining with the world’s largest impact brand.

What the meeting will cover

This session will involve a very short presentation as an introduction to the UN SDGs, followed by group discussion and objectives setting.

On an ongoing basis, this will be a stakeholder led group with the aim of increasing the profile of Liverpool City Region, by individually and collectively making sustainable impacts that support the SDGs.

Attendance at this session is free but you must be an employed representative of a relevant organisation, operating within tourism and hospitality in the Liverpool City Region. As such, we must ask that you register in advance, providing full details of your business and your role.
